Incinerator Designed Specifically to Burn Waste Liquids and Sludges
نویسنده
چکیده
The incinerators described were developed to dispose of waste liquids and sludges fr' om paint and resin plants. The operation of two prototype designs demonstrated: (1) complete combustion without fluid atomization, (2) ability to burn organic liquids containing dissolved and suspended solids, (3) low noise level, (4) smoke-free stack effluent without the use of air pollution control equipment, (5) self-sustaining combustion after initial preheating, and (6) potential for heat recovery. Since November 1970, the first operational and instru mented unit has been used to burn the organic waste liquids from a resin plan t. An operational unit of the second type has been de signed to burn paint manufacturing wastes containing in organic pigments. P erformance data are expected to be available at the time of presentation of this paper.

Emission of airborne bacteria from a hospital incinerator.
Only five studies have been found in the literature which provide any indication of the effectiveness of incineration for rendering infectious hospital waste innocuous. Although there is an indication from these studies for release of bacteria in stack gas, none of the studies identified the bacteria or determined the source of bacteria. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the p...

An experimental investigation on waste combustion characteristics of a mass burn incinerator is conducted in this study. Three different charging modes, including operator manipulation, periodic feeding, and temperature control, are taken into consideration. The results indicate that the burning characteristics in the combustion chambers are closely related to the operating modes. For the opera...

The Department of Energy’s Pantex Plant is where the nation’s nuclear weapons are being dismantled. The facility generated low-level radioactive waste contaminated with tritium. The waste consists of scintillation liquid, scintillation vials (glass and plastic) and support material (dry activated waste). The waste was generated as a result of plant processing and area surveys. Mason and Hanger ...

Waste incineration still seems to be an essential technology in the concept of integrated waste management. However, the desirable quantity of waste incineration residue needs to be as low as possible. Therefore, related optimization of two-stage waste incineration technology has been performed with the main goal of producing lower amounts of boiler ash, fly ash and flue gas-treatment residue, ...
